Amazing tranquil retreat

Points positifs : Absolutely amazing place to stay so tranquil and such a beautiful house inside and out. Such friendly neighbours even though neither of us could speak French past what we learned 40+ years ago in school.

Points négatifs : There were an exceptional amount of flies, a fly net on the windows would make such a difference as it was uncomfortable to open the windows for fresh air when inundated with flies. I know it is in the countryside a large can of RAID fly spray helped.

Good value for your money

Points positifs : Located just 4 min drive from the town of Civray, it’s a nice little village, quiet and safe. Self check-in and checkout with a code box for the key. There are a coffee maker (French press), electric kettle, plates, dishes, cups, pans, etc. The best for us was a washing machine, and we put the clothes out to dry outside. Also available is an iron (steamer) and ironing board. The shower was nice also, and lots of towels available. We decided to stay longer, and the host gave us a jar of homemade jam, which was nice.

Points négatifs : There is no AC nor electric fans. We were there during high summer temperatures so to sleep upstairs was not an option. There is a folding out coach on the first floor which we used as a bed. Also, to leave the windows and back door open at night helped a lot because the temperature fell down at night. The other problem is flies which is understandable in the countryside. You cannot keep the doors or windows open in summer, moreover, you need to keep the shutters closed to keep the inside temperature lower.
